Moto G CDMA version now available on RCom

Moto G has been the fastest selling smartphone on flipkart as per online retailer’s own confession and why not it has got the exlusive right to sell this affordable yet so powerful Smartfone in India. Now taking a cue from Moto G’s phenomenal success on flipkart RCom has decided to market the CDMA version on Moto G in India. CDMA has very few takers in Indian mobile market and Reliance very well knows that it can attract new and retain old customers....
with this deft move. As of now only 8 GB version Moto G is being sold by Reliance. One important thing to be noted here is that Reliance has imported Moto G from international markets and won’t carry official Motorola warranty. Reliance is yet to clarify on who will tender to 1 year warranty it is offering to customers.

RCOM is currently selling 8 GB Moto G CDMA on it’s official online store for Rs. 13,490 and it claims to ship the device within 7-8 days across India. As far as payment terms are concerned you can pay upfront in one go or can opt for 6 months and 12 months EMI scheme on ICICI credit cards.

Moto G is a device which has set new benchmarks for budget and mid range smartphones whether it is Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor , Gorilla Glass 3 protection, water resistant coating etc. It sports a 4.5 inch 720 pixel HD display which translates to 329 pixel per inch and has 5 MP rear as well as front facing 1.3 MP camera. It’s quad core processor clocks at 1.2 Ghz and is paired with 1 GB of RAM to deliver butter smooth functioning. Stock Android with bare minimum essentials further makes this phone a performance beast and latest Android 4.4 kitkat doesn’t hurt either. All in all this is a device which delivers much more than what we pay for it.

Our Take: Well I felt like giving my own opinion on this matter. If you have made up your mind to go for CDMA verion of Moto G then keep in mind that you will end up paying Rs. 1,000 more. Moreover you will be stuck with CDMA network which usually drains your battery more and later you cannot switch over to GSM networks. However you can choose to go with other CDMA operators like Tata Indicom, Docomo, MTS, Virgin Mobile or BSNL or MTNL (Garuda). Even if you overlook all the above mentioned factors you cannot over look the fact that Reliance will outsource the 1 year warranty to some third party service, which may turn out to be a disaster.
