Streaming Video Recorder combines three powerful functions in one – online video download, screen recording, and video conversion. If, for any reason, you cannot download an online video using the program’s standard "Download" function, you can always capture the video as it plays, thus saving a local copy of virtually any online video. Besides, you can convert your video into any format at your convenience.

The program offers a neat and intuitive user interface with tabs for each of the functions offered. The first one is "Download", and it allows you to paste an online video URL to start downloading it. This section allows you to download online videos in batches and it includes its own YouTube search engine, so that you can search for your desired videos without leaving the program. The so-called "Video Detector" function detects when an online video starts playing, and it will automatically ask you for the download quality and add the video to the download list.

Next is the "Record Screen" tab. It allows you to select the region to be captured (among custom area, specific window, around the mouse, or full screen), to determine whether to capture the audio from your sound card, your microphone or both, and to pick the output folder. You can also use the program to record the audio stream only, in this case you can select the audio source and the output format. And finally, the "Convert" section of the program offers you a simple yet comprehensive video converter and audio extractor. Streaming Video Recorder supports video conversion in batches and offers you a wide variety of output formats and presets to choose from. Some of them are generic video/audio formats, while others are designed for specific brands and models of portable devices, such as Apple iPhone or Sony PSP. You can create your own presets, and this section even includes some basic video editing functions, such as trim, crop, effects, subtitle addition, and video merge.

To sum up, Streaming Video Recorder is a comprehensive tool that allows you to download virtually any online video, and convert it into most video file formats. Beyond online video download, the program can also be used as a standard screen recorder, a general video converter, and an audio extractor.
